Spigen makes high quality accessories that anyone can afford. Rugged Armor provides good protection with an affordable price. I liked its thin and light design beside perfect protection.
Spigen Rugged Armor case is made out of Thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU). TPU material makes it extremely flexible but also very protective. It is extremely easy to take on and off due to flexible design.
What I liked most with Rugged Armor is, it has a good looking and elegant design. When I take it to my hand, I feel the quality! It has small but elegant finishes for better protection and usability. Grippy texture makes it extremely easy to handle. Air cushion technology provides extra protection support from falls. Phone’s buttons are also protected by outer case buttons. They are flexible and easy to press.
Inside of case has a spider web pattern that helps protection but probably you will not see it after inserting your phone 🙂
One more small but elegant design detail: It has a small rise around phone’s camera which protects your phone’s lenses. Sometimes small changes makes big differences!
Only bad thing with Spigen Rugged Armor case is, it has very limited color options. Actually, only available option is matte black. In my opinion, this color is perfect, but some people may prefer other colors, though.
Is Rugged Armor Case Really Protecting from Dropping?
Fortunately, I did not test in real life but there are many Amazon user reviews stating that, Spigen rugged armor protecting phone from accidental drops.
Update: Unfortunately, I have dropped my iPhone a few times, but fortunately Rugged Armor case protected my phone very well 🙂 It is rather thin, but it has air cushion technology at sides that is absorbing shock. Thanks to the Spigen quality!

After two years of experience, I can conclude that, Spigen Rugged Armor is one of the most balanced cases on the market, in terms of protection and functionality. It is not a thick case that makes phone hard to use. It is fairly slim but, provides good protection for my phone. Thermoplastic Polyurethane material makes the case fairly flexible and protective. Back of the case does not shows fingerprints. It has a special scratch resistant texture. Side buttons are covered by Rugged Armor case and easily accessible. Type-C port is open, and charging is not prevented by case, as expected.
What I most liked with Rugged Armor case is its elegant slim body. It is not rough anymore. On the other hand, it provides fair protection. You may find thicker and more protective cases on the marked, but Rugged Armor has a balanced usability and protection.
Some people may find Rugged Armor fairly classical. Actually, it is! Only matte black version is available. For this reason, if you are looking for a fancier case, probably Rugged Armor case is not for you.
